How does the "Instant Performance Boost" work?

The Instant Performance Boost is designed to provide immediate improvements to your ad campaigns by cleaning up targeting settings that often lead to low-quality traffic and wasted budget.


By default, platforms like Google and Meta use broad settings that can cause your ads to reach unintended audiences. This feature acts as your first line of defense, applying industry best practices to your account the moment you enable it.


What's included in the Boost?

When enabled, Fraud Blocker applies four distinct "Boosts" to your active campaigns:

Boost 1: Add Negative Keyword Exclusions

We apply a curated list of 400+ negative keywords to your account. This prevents your ads from appearing for search queries that signal low intent or high fraud risk.

  • Categories included: Deal Shoppers, Researchers, Job Seekers, Adult Keywords, and other low-value terms.

  • Impact: Critical for maintaining strong search performance and high CTR.

Boost 2: Add Spam Website Exclusions

We have identified over 450 websites categorized as "Made For Advertising" (MFA). These are spammy, low-quality sites designed to drive clicks without real user intent. We exclude these from your placement list so your display ads appear only on reputable sites.

Boost 3: Exclude Search "Partners"

By default, Google runs your search ads on their "Partner" network, which often includes parked domains and outdated search engines (like Ask Jeeves). We recommend turning this off to keep your ads strictly on the primary Google Search results page.

Boost 4: Exclude "Interested In" Location Targeting

Google’s default location setting is "Presence or Interest in." This means your ads can show to people physically located outside your target area who simply searched for a related term. We switch this to "Presence" only, ensuring your budget is spent on users actually located in your target markets.

How to enable Instant Performance Boost

  1. Log in to your Fraud Blocker dashboard.

  2. Navigate to the Setup Menu on the left-hand sidebar.

  3. Select "Add Instant Performance Boost." Located here.

  4. Toggle the feature to On.

Note: Once enabled, Fraud Blocker will automatically apply these changes to your active Google Ads campaigns.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Which campaigns are updated?

We only update active campaigns currently running in your account. If you create a brand new campaign or re-activate a paused one, you will need to toggle the feature "Off" and then "On" again in the Fraud Blocker dashboard to push the updates to those specific campaigns.

Will this override my manual changes?

No. We do not force ongoing changes. If you manually change a setting (like turning Search Partners back on) directly inside your Google Ads account, your manual change will override our update.

Can I revert to my old settings?

For Search Partner and Location exclusions, we do not store your original "pre-Fraud Blocker" settings. If you disable this feature, we will return those specific settings to Google’s default levels, which may differ from the custom settings you had before using our tool.

What happens if I cancel my plan?

If you cancel your Fraud Blocker service, all exclusions will be removed and settings will automatically return to Google’s default configurations.

Will third-party tools interfere?

Possibly. If you use other third-party automation tools or Google's "Auto-apply" recommendations, those systems would likely override exclusions and settings applied by Fraud Blocker.
